Today, Sunday, we had a casual walk around town, Lowood, and along part of the old railway. After lunch we drove back to Wivenhoe Dam. The camp grounds less crowded now, everyone gone home again. Would have been nice to stay out there, the view across the water mass amazing, but we are happy in town as well. The SEQ Water information centre is fabulous, so much information. Found out the real story about the 2011 floods of Brisbane. Natural rainfall can cause so much damage.
The Spillway directs the water on down the Brisbane River. They have 2 Hydro Power Stations working off the dam supplying power to Brisbane, Ipswich, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.
When we returned back home the rain set in. It rained solid for about an hour, when it rains around here, it rains. Wish we could ship it home.
