We stayed 4 nights at the Takarakka Bush Camp and have had a fabulous time. When we arrived Tuesday afternoon we did happy hour at 4pm and met many people, (2 other AOR vans here, great excitement as we have not seen many) booked for the Roast Dinner that evening and attended the information session they run every day for any newbys.
Day 1
We did the main gorge walk to The Art Gallery taking in Moss Gardens, Amphitheatre and Wards Canyon, a 14 kilometre return walk. It took us about 6 hours. Amazing Limestone and Basalt formations of 25 million years ago. Each place having something different to appreciate. On our way back to camp we stopped in at the Rock Pools to cool my feet. Mick walked there from the main car park, I drove. Considering the distance we walked I was not too bad, my legs ached a bit that night.
Day 2
We did some short walks to Baloon Cave, Micky Creek and Warrumbah Bluff, a total of approx 6 kms, as we walked further down Mickey Creek and Warrumbah Bluff, lovely and cool in there. Had a relaxing afternoon.
Day 3
We did and early start, up at 5am, to do the Boolimba Bluff walk for sunrise. Amazing view up there, the sun beat us up but it was still fabulous with the reflections across the face of the gorge. There are 984 stairs to the top, I counted them. (It kept me going as it was a tough climb) On our return to camp we stopped off at the Wilderness Lodge and had some food. The information centre there is very informative of the wildlife, birds, rock history of Carnarvon Gorge. In the afternoon we did a helicopter ride over the area, really interesting to see the big picture from above. That night we did a Nocturnal animal guided tour and then an Astrology talk. All in all a very busy day.

We certainly can say we saw everything there was to see. I should have lost some weight with all the walking, but I don't think anything has changed, but I can say I am getting fitter.
